Dieter Ram’s designs aim to achieve clear shapes, be appropriate for the materials used, and offer ease of use. Function is at the center of attention and is analyzed precisely so that only the essential is expressed. The result: Radically reduced designs that are always simple and with no ornaments. Color is pushed to the background so that merely important operating elements are designed in color. In an interview, Rams emphasized that, above all, designing cities and their structures, along with concepts to ensure survival, will be important in the future.
